As usual, travelers are staying at acting local farms, mohair, wool, ostrich and others. The farms are offering accommodation of different type and comfort, from luxury 4*/5* lodges to tented camps. Some cottages wonderfully blend with surrounding nature, being built in caves or trees. And all farms offer excellent cousin based on authentic farm recipes from organic products produced on farms. Mountain chalets

All meals are provided in the main lodge building, which includes a pool deck, bar, swimming pool and lounge, and which makes it the ideal place to relax and to read a book. The main lodge building has a phone and free Wifi that guests can use should they wish to. The main goal at Sederkloof Lodge is to provide guests with a very authentic and homemade experience. They are serving delicious, wholesome food, and a large proportion of ingredients are produced on the farm. Guests can expect home-grown salads and vegetables and organically reared lamb or venison from the farm.

All chalets are equipped with the following:  air-conditioning; twin/double/queen size bed;   bath with a beautiful view and private outside shower; lounge & deck chairs, umbrella, mini bar, writing desk, reading lamps, a safe, candles, coffee & tea tray with rusks, insect repellent and battery torch.

Tented camp

Camp Naguna is a luxury tented camp situated in the riparian forest between the cliffs of the Groot Naguna gorge, a kilometer from where the mountains are split by a riverbed into a deep canyon. It is the ideal place for city folk to get-away-from-it-all and to be cradled in the arms of nature for a while. A place to wind down and recharge those batteries in the solitude of forest and birdsong.

Camp Naguna is a self-catering camp which can accommodate four people. Additional tents can be put up for children above the age of six upon request. The camp is equipped with two bedroom tents and two bathroom tents. Each bedroom tent contains two single beds, a bedside table, a trunk with additional blankets, torches, insect repellent and matches. Each bathroom tent is equipped with a bath, basin, toilet, towels and amenities. Through the gauze windows, one looks up into the cliffs above, with the river and forest trees that encapsulate its canvases. An outside shower with a gas hot water boiler is also built outside each of the bathroom tents.

There is a small pool near the kitchen where one can cool down in on hot summer days. Meals can be prepared in the small kitchen that has been constructed inside the rock overhang, using either a gas stove or the fireplace.

A minimum stay of two nights is recommended to gain the full benefit of this wonderfully secluded haven. Camp Naguna Luxury Tented Camp guests have exclusive access to the Groot Naguna Hiking Trail, and complete privacy is part of the package.

Langrug 4×4 sunset game drive. Visitors are fetched by a professional guide with a 4 x 4 vehicle at the main lodge building, and are taken on a drive meandering through the game camp and up to the look-out point on Langrug. From here you have a very good vantage point, and can observe a watering hole where gemsbok, kudu, blue wildebeest and monkeys come to drink before the sun sets. Estimated duration: 2 hours.

Cedar hiking trail. This is a half-day hike which takes you up to a population of the endemic Willowmore Cedar trees that only grow in the Baviaanskloof and nowhere else on earth. The hike goes into a gorge surrounded by red sandstone cliff faces, where black eagles’ nests can be observed. The gorge teems with wildlife, as this is where there is water and abundant food for birds and animals such as porcupines, bush pigs and kudus. The forest trees provide a lush canopy for birds to nest and feed in, which makes this the ideal place for bird watching early in the morning.

After approximately three hours of hiking through forest vegetation with the sound of running water and the smell of wild mint and sage that fills your body with a fresh herbal inhalance, you will arrive at the cedar tree forest. Here, the smell of cedar wood hovers in the air everywhere, and you can rest in the shade of the cedar trees. A professionally qualified guide will accompany you.

Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site Day Trip. The route takes us past active farms where ostrich, Angora goats and seed are still being produced.  Approximately 25 km east, signs of human activity cease, and the view that remains is one of untouched natural beauty. Mountains that stretch as far as the eye can see. Rivers cross the road, and buffalo, rhino, eland and bushbuck can be encountered. You have entered the Wilderness area, a proclaimed World Heritage site of unsurpassed magnificence. Steep and dramatic mountain passes, deep river valleys and abundant wildlife makes this a nature lover’s dream. There are picnic sites on the way: Smitskraal, Rooihoek and Doodsklip. Rooihoek and Doodsklip have white sandy beaches, and are situated on the banks of the Kouga River.
